Profile Opened on CGScholar with a First Post on AI and Understanding¶

Oleh Shynkarenko has opened a profile on CGScholar, the academic social network of the Common Ground Research Networks, and published his first post there, "Does AI Understand?".

The post returns to John Searle's Chinese Room in the age of large language models and draws on the preprint AI: The Illusion of Understanding. It asks how teachers and researchers can tell genuine understanding from skilled imitation, a question that predates artificial intelligence but has become impossible to ignore.
