A Zenodo Repository for Unpublished Work¶

Oleh Shynkarenko has opened a repository on Zenodo to give a DOI to research that has not appeared in academic journals. Texts written for conferences, turned down by journals, or belonging to no journal format at all will move there gradually. The first deposit is Metamodernism Manifesto, his most widely read essay, now citable as 10.5281/zenodo.22146759.

Zenodo is operated by CERN in Geneva and was built within the European Commission's OpenAIRE programme. It is non-commercial, charges nothing, and commits to preserving what it holds for as long as the laboratory itself exists. Each deposit receives a DOI registered through DataCite, which turns the text into a permanently addressable object: it can be cited in a bibliography, it surfaces in OpenAIRE and Google Scholar, and it links automatically to the author's ORCID record. A DOI is not peer review and does not pretend to be — but it does mean that work outside the journal system stops being a link that may one day break.
